Hi there, book-loving humans!
Luckily, April was not as uneventful as March so I have several things to talk about in today’s wrap-up!
Last April 28, I attended April Feels Day 2018 with my girls Kate from The Backwards Bookshelf and Shealea from That Bookshelf Bitch.
I realized just now, should I change my blog name to something with a ‘Bookshelf’ in it?? Hahaha. Okay, sorry, back to the main topic. Although this is the first #romanceclass event that I attended, I actually attempted to go the Feels Day at UP Town Center last year to buy some books but chickened out the very last minute. I was overwhelmed by fact that there were too many people and I don’t know anyone there. Oh well, regrets.
Anyway, April Feels Day 2018 is such a wonderful experience!! I met people that I just usually see and sometimes interact with online like Fay, JM and Inah. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming even to new faces like me.
I also saw some my favorite #romanceclass authors Six de los Reyes (I loved Beginner’s Guide: Guide to Love and Other Chemical Reactions), Tara Frejas (author of Like Nobody’s Watching), and Celestine Trinidad (author of Ghost of a Feeling and Missing Bodies). Funny though, these are the #romanceclass titles I love the most but I haven’t written a review for any of them yet. Huhu. I was internally fangirling the whole time because I was too shy, but it’s like watching my own personal heroes come to life in front of me. They’re real, they’re alive!
Unfortunately, I was not able to hear the live readings clearly because the sound system has problems and we were at the far back of the venue. Thank you to the angel who posted the videos, though, I will binge watch them all later!
Lastly, I bought stuff!
I’m on a book buying ban, I know. I. AM. NOT. PROUD. But who can say no to these books and these cute little stickers??? I got The Queen’s Game by Carla de Guzman, Love at First Run by Angel C. Aquino (highly recommended by Kate, btw), the cute quote bookmark based on Ghost of a Feeling by Celestine Trinidad and those mumu (ghost) stickers that are too adorable!
Last month, I was also introduced to my most recent obsession – Brooklyn Nine-Nine!!
A lot of my friends shared this video a few weeks ago and I found it so damn funny (plus I was somewhat a Backstreet Boys trash when I was younger). I cannot not watch the series itself because surely there’d be more funny jokes where that came from.
I won’t even talk about how this show introduced me to Andy Samberg and made me want to watch all movies and shows with him in it. Spoiler: Celeste and Jesse Forever broke my poor heart.
My favorites are Captain Raymond Holt and Rosa Diaz!! It’s hard to choose only one, okay. Captain Holt looks serious 99% of the time, that’s why it’s two times as hilarious whenever he says something funny! Three times for those instances when he’s not even trying to be funny but he made me laugh out loud anyway.
Rosa appears to be the toughest, but she really sees the squad as her family. She genuinely cares for them, even though she actually scares them most of the time! Game Night (S05E10) which revolves heavily around Rosa is my favorite episode from the latest season. Plus, Stephanie Beatriz, the actress who plays Rosa, has the total opposite personality. During her interviews, she sounds like she consumed helium, her voice is very different and she’s very bubbly and full of life and everything. Gaahhh, I love her.
If the video above didn’t convince you to watch this show, maybe these Youtube clips will. Brooklyn Nine-Nine is an amazing show and I am not kidding when I say that I could watch these videos all day!
Okay, onto more bookish stuff.
– Books read –
I finished only two books last month, and I loved them both!
– On the blog –
And yes, all (but one) of my posts last month are blog tour stops.
📝 Blog Tour Review: The Secrets that We Keep
📝 Blog Tour Review + Giveaway: The Voting Game by Peter Gulgowski
📝 March 2018 || (Not) the (only) month I failed to reach my goals
📝 Blog Tour Review: Secondhand Origin Stories by Lee Blauersouth
– May plans –
I don’t have any blog tour stops this month! Well, that’s new considering 75% of my posts this year are for blog tours. I don’t even post a lot aside from those so that may have an impact on the number of posts on the blog. (huhuhu)
But! But I also mentioned in last month’s wrap up, which was posted two weeks ago (late, I know) that you should watch out for some tags and awards. I’m actually done drafting the first one so it’s gonna be up soon! I don’t really know why I take too long writing those stuff, I find it hard to answer the questions sometimes!
The TBR list page I talked about last month will be up soon, too! Okay, at this point, I’m just listing the things I wasn’t able to accomplish last month.
I guess it’s official. May will be the month of checking off stuff from my blog backlog. Watch out for the tags and awards said above, reviews of a few books I read in the (distant) past, and other posts that have been sitting (probably sleeping now) on my drafts for too long.
That’s it again for now.
See you next month and don’t forget to watch Brooklyn Nine-Nine!
